Introduction
The club runs a number of internal box leagues catering for all standards of tennis players, singles and doubles. Any David Lloyd member with playing rights at Enfield may participate. All matches are submitted to the LTA for ratings purposes. Your David Lloyd membership gives you free affiliation with British Tennis (LTA) - https://www2.lta.org.uk/register/ - from there you can obtain your LTA Number (or British Tennis Member (BTM) Number) to play in our leagues.
We are using a new Box League System from the LTA to manage matches. This is where you see your matches and submit results. In addition the new ITF World Tennis Number (updated automatically when you submit scores) is used in the first instance to place you within the league.
If you haven’t already got a rating, please contact the racquets team at racquets.enfield@davidlloyd.co.uk to arrange an on-court assessment. Contact lists and notices for all leagues are also distributed by email.
Respect
All participants should treat their opponents with equal respect regardless of race, gender, sexuality, age or match score.

Match Scoring – FAST4 Tennis
FAST4 Tennis provides a simple, exciting way of speeding up a conventional tennis match. The fundamentals of tennis remain the same, but there are four rules that ensure matches are fast, competitive, exciting and can be completed in a reasonable period of time.
(rules from September 2019 following feedback from players, parents, coaches and officials.)
1. First to four games wins
It doesn’t matter how you get there, just make sure you do before your opponent does!
2. Tiebreaker at 3 games all
At 3 games all a tie-break is played to 7 points, 2 clear at 6-6.
3. Match tie-break at 1 set all
If the score reaches 1 set all, a match tie-break is played to 10 points, 2 clear at 9-9
4. No ad scoring
If the score reaches deuce, it’s a sudden-death point. The receiver chooses which side to take the serve on. This also applies in doubles with the receiving pair deciding who receives the serve. However, the pair cannot change positions. In mixed doubles the player of the same gender shall receive.
Administration
As a general guide:
End dates for box leagues will be strictly observed.
Changes to box leagues will not be made during the course of a league (even if a mistake has been made).
Players failing to play a single match may be demoted 4 boxes or removed from the following league. Please contact the Administrator if there are any special reasons for being unable to play.
Disputes
Unfortunately there may be a dispute between players either with regard to a match result or managing to arrange a mutually agreeable time. The club will endeavour to manage each situation as tactfully as possible, however, correspondence will be kept to a minimum and the Box League Administrator’s decision is final under all circumstances.
